windows ME OR SE

you prefer crashes or gaming? for crashes and lotsa problems (just look around here) try ME

SE is still the way to go. ME is M$'s attempt to suck an extra bunch of money out of peoples wallets before they release Whistler...Worst part: Ordinary people do actually buy it here in Denmark!!!

AoD 😉

I've got ME on my system, but I'm keeping SE on my daughter's computer at least until all the bugs are ironed out of ME. I remember 98 being a little shaky until SE was released and it was very stable....maybe there's a WindowsME SE on the horizon...hahaha

SE gave me probs.ME cleared them up to a point.I'm thinking of going back to Win 98.If your systems running good I'd leave it.

Stick with win98SE at least until winME becomes more stable... I would say at least until the first service pack comes out...

Windows Me causes a Error 20 on IRQ Holder for PCI Steering. Had to disable PCI clk from auto detect to disable, and I'm having bad slow disconnect from Internet programs. Bottom line, Windows Me is full of bugs-no faster at all than Windows 98-SE, stick with stability, not problem. It's all cosmetic in Me, except maybe better plug-play reconigtion. Also had to disable PCI steering under Bus (device manager) sorta suxs.

I have Win 98 and ME on my system in a dual boot situation and for the gamer i would stay with the 98 for the average newbie take the plunge!

Although i do suggest shutting off the restore and all the memory hogs on the ME as they are sucking a system dry if you have them on!

cheers!

Yes, if you're going to play a lot of games us SE, ME has a few issues that need to be addressed before taking over SE as a solid gaming OS. For example, problems with games and mouse (ball and optical) in ME, mouse goes crazy when moved at high speeds...LOL! For real!

i dont have any problem with ME, it's rock and run with no problem here! i like ME, but i am still keep the SE for the game, i hear some people have a lot of problem with ME, what problem is it??

That's about how I feel....I'd go back to SE except the bugs in ME or so minor, I can live with them for now. I'd hate to have to go through the hassle of installing 98, upgrading to SE, then downloading all the updates again, then installing all my software. The only real problem I have with ME is with mIRC freezing about 50% of the time when loaded and the occasional file or two crashing. All my games seem to run fine, though....

ME crashes my roommate frequently, media player 7 blows hard too

heck, AIM would freeze and BSOD his system
