Hi,

I have a problem with my DVD (Pioneer DVD 106) in Win ME - it plays standard CD ROM-s, but it doesn't recognize DVDs (it only displays an icon for one file without its name and with 0 bits of lenght). I know the problem is with the OS for 2 reasons:

1. I have dual boot Win 2K on the same computer and DVD works fine (no problems).
2. I have a laptop with a different DVD (Torisan DRD-U824) and I had the same problem. I had to reinstall Win ME to solve it.

I heard somewhere that the reason can be in the hard disk controller driver. Is this problem perhaps related to the BX chipset (both my workstation and laptop have this chipset)? The controller is Intel 82371AB/EB Bus Master IDE Controller.

Please help me with any suggestions....

Yes,

I thought about this solution, but unfortunatelly on my laptop I have to use ME cos it came with the computer (I got it at work and can't mess around with othe OS).

Anyway, thanx for input, its nice to know someone else is having problems too :)
