"Thanks to iiiiii for posting this in our forums. Some new screenshots of what may possible the beta build of Windows Longhorn was leaked today on the web. Internet Explorer 7 is included in this Longhorn build. Read more for screenshots."

Interesting screenshots. Haha the "Longhorn Leaked and Available on the Web.... screenshots with SOURCE" probably got you reading this thread :). Nope, not Longhorn's source (piracy is evil), but the screenshot's source: FlexBeta.net

Looks awesome, I love the new transparent looks.

Even the transparent borders? Sure, these could be Photochopped, but is this possible with a functioning WinXP theme?

Yeah, but it looks nice. You can mimic anything if you want to, it's really about what's inside. I'm glad they didn't change any of the formats or anything...I'm pretty used to where everything in windows is already :)

I don't like downloading all that extra theme customization either. There's all kinds of "buy now!" reminders you get from them and stuff and it really slows down your computer. I'll probably choose the Longhorn settings that won't slow up my computer. If it looks nice without degrading my performance, all the better.

What's the most intriguing for me (as a .NET Developer) about longhorn is native .NET! If .NET being O/S native is excellent news (much improved speed, no need for framework, or any type of emulation, etc).

I've never seen an actual transparent theme for WinXP... I'd like to check that out, got a link?

Edit: btw... All you have to do to use non-standard themes is to run the UXTheme Multi Patcher It's simple, free, and there aren't any annoying nag screens. All this does is overwirte a .dll file that prevents you from using unsigned .msstyles.

Yea, those screen shots don't really show anything other then XP with a different theme on it.. Pretty useless..

You guys are really paying too much attention to the look of it. Compare Whidby with XP Pro

Good God, people. That's pre-beta 1. That is in no way the final GUI. XP's GUI looked like 2000 right up until the last RC (or somewhere around there).

Edit: I should qualify, that is actually from the Beta 2 branch, but still.

If this is actually what Windows has developed, I would just buy it for the looks! forget about all the functionality, the looks themselves is worth $150

Looks almost exactly the same to Windows XP to me. The only real difference is different desktop icons and transparent borders.

I am pretty sure that Windows XP could easily be made to look like that, and for probably less then 15 dollars.

Plus your not going to see the real UI until the 2nd beta and that's still a few months away.

Yes, but 99% of the changes in Longhorn are below the GUI... even though the GUI has been revamped as well.
