I ran into this problem before, and, forgot how to correct it. I keep getting the Windows login window, to enter user name and password. What file is it, that I delete, to rid myself of this pesky window on bootup? The OS is Windows 98. I tried several configuration changes in the Network, but, to no avail. I do remember someone giving me innstructions to delete a certain file name, either in Windows or the Registry itself, I forgot what it was. Anyone know?

Just go into network settings (in the control panel) and set it to windows logon... (the primary network logon)

I've tried that, ( go into Network settings and change to Windows Login ) that didn't work, even though WIndows Help does specify it should. Again, a while back, someone gave me a file name to delete, it was located either in a Windows directory, or, the Registry. That's what I need.

It would be a .pwl file in the Windows directory. Just delete that file and the next time the Pwd window pops up, just enter nothing in both fields (or you can enter a user name if you want, just nothiing in the pwd field). Then click on OK. It should ask for confirmation of the PWD, enter nothing again, just click OK. After that, the window shouldn't pop up anymore.

You can use TweakUI. Go to logon tab and check the box marked Log on automatically at system startup.

OK, I will try deleting the .pwl file, in the windows directory, that should be easy to find, if that doens't work, I will install TweakUI and remove it that way. Thanks for the tips. :)
