windows locks up when plugging in flash drive

ive got a dell inspiron 9400 here and a corsair flash voyager 2gb flash drive..

i keep having problems with the laptop freezing when i plug in the flash drive.. it doesn't do it every time, but it does it often enough to be annoying.

the laptop has media center 2005 on it and all the latest updates.. i formatted the flash drive yesterday and it hasn't helped.

i've also tried different usb ports, though they're beside eachother, ill try the ones on the back to see if that makes a difference.

does anyone have any ideas for anything else i could try?

theres no errors in event log, no bluescreens, it just instantly freezes.

Have you tried it on different Computers? Does it affect them the same way?

Is it a U3 (?) model? I've heard of some people having issues with the U3 software.

I've also heard some issues with the Media Center OS - don't know all the details right off though. You may want to dig around the Microsoft sight to see if there is a fix (if that's the problem.)
 
it works fine on other computers.. i use it on probably a dozen different machines a week (computer store) and this is the only one with problems..

im not sure what you mean by U3? the laptop or the key? if youre talking about the key, i never installed any of the software for it.

ill try and see what I can find in kb
