Windows for Students?

I have seen office for student, but now I see windows for students. My question is how does microsoft verify this.

Chances are they don't verify it. I'm doubting Newegg does either. But it would be a crummy thing to buy if you aren't a student.

as I recall, they just ask some small way to verify you're a student, example a copy/fax of your student id or some proof you're a student. Anyway, I don't use microsoft products

I don't think they verify nor need to. License agreement forbids you from reselling an educational package should you decide to chuck it later on.

I don't know how it works when you buy from an online seller, but I would think they must ask for some kind of verification.

If you buy the software at a college bookstore, which you can do on many campuses, you would, of course, just show your student ID card.

You might check a college bookstore. I know one major university where students can get Win XP, Office 2003, and FrontPage 2003, all for $100.

i bought one from newegg, you have to enter the school id number but there really is no verification.. i think that there is a limit to how many you can have. i think they check the with the school to see if you have purchased any..
