Well this has been a total nightmare.
Last night I got a pretty bad Trojan on my comp
( http://www.spywarevoid.com/rem...rity-2009-removal.html )

I finally got rid of it using spyware removal tools, and since then, the only remains are this dang error that keeps popping up saying:

Windows File Protection: Files that are required for windows to run properly have been replaced by unknown versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must restore the original versions of these files.
Insert your Windows XP Home Edition CD-ROM now.

I only have my WinXP Professional CD, and my computer seems to be running a tiny bit slower as well , and this message will not go away even if I try to close it , it comes right back.

Some help would be great!!
Thank you.

Do what it says. you need to perform a reapir install.

Boot from your Windows CD. it will load and ask if you want a fresh install or a repair install. at this point you want to select fresh install. It will then check your system to see if there is a previous version of windows on the system. The it will ask again if you want to do a fresh install or repair the eshisting one. This is when you will select the repair install. Then the disk will scan the system and replace any of the key windows files that are currupt or missing.

If that doesn't work then you may need to back up your important data and fully resistall the OS.

You can try running MS System File Checker from the cmd window. It might take a long time and it also might ask for your XP install disc.
start > Run... > sfc /scannow

Another option is doing a system restore back to a point where you know you did not have a virus. This option does not always work but it's worth a try.
