Windows - Extracting hardware component list

Is there any type of quick-and-easy program that I could use for someone that would extract a text file or something that had all of the hardware components installed on their system? I realize that it will be restricted to whatever the device is reporting itself as in many cases, there might possibly be some program that can recognize some of the signature strings?

Right now I'm just exporting the System Information section of compmgmt.msc, but it is taking a *long* time, and there is a lot of extra information that I don't really need in there.

Anyone know of any thing that is built-in to Windows or possibly a 3rd party program that will just try and give me a list of all hardware components installed in a system? I'm trying to help someone out over the internet and they have no idea what they've got. 😛

Thanks for any suggestions. 🙂
