Windows Explorer weirdness...

I've got a folder on my desktop called Unzipped Files (it's for obvious purposes). Well, inside the folder, somehow a shortcut to the SAME folder was created. And every time I click on it, Explorer tanks and resets itself. So I can't delete it, but other than that, it doesn't seem to cause any problems. And I have no idea how it was created in the first place. Weird.

I've just reproduced your problem and I have no problem deleting the shortcut or the folder.

Yeah, I'm using XP Pro, too. And I tried it with another folder as well, and it would let me delete it. It's just this one shortcut. I've got NO idea what the hell is wrong with it.

I was actually referring to 2001 when HAL said, "I'm sorry, Dave, I can't do that."

I got it.

And while I'd love to hear that on my brand spankin' new Z-560's, I'm afraid I'll just have to live with it. maybe I'll try moving everything out of the folder and deleting the whole thing. If any of you in Ithaca hear a loud boom, don't worry, it was just me.

I didn't have a problem selecting, opening or deleting such a link. Maybe you should try do it in the command prompt.

Delete it via comand prompt!

I actualy have a file, which if you simply "see" the file in explorer, the kernel will attempt to take over your processor. This will also have the side affect of marking the file as "in use". It is only possible to remove it through a shell.

You might check properties to see if it gives you a hint. Otherwise, two words:

command prompt.

Yeah, I eventually command prompted it out; but it was still weird.

And I couldn't do Properties, because if I even selected it it would reset explorer.
