I'm fixing a computer for someone, and upon boot and login (under windows XP), it goes to his desktop and starts loading his startup programs. Then about 5 seconds later, the start menu and desktop go away without any alert or warning. I have to then control + alt + delete to get to task manager, then manually restart explorer.exe

I can't figure out what is causing explorer.exe to close itself. I have run spybot and adaware, and deleted all the spyware entries it's found. The problem persists. I have tried creating a new user account on the computer, and it exhibits the same problem.

Please help me out here...I'm out of ideas.
