Windows Doesn't See 2 Cores

My system used to recognize two cores. After a reformat, it does not recognize two anymore. I tried a hotfix, removing a hotfix, and the AMD X2 driver, but it's not recognizing. I'm about to update my BIOS, but this was the BIOS I was using prior to reformating.

Any Help?

Maybe you have the wrong HAL (hardware abstraction layer) installed? When I look in Device Manager under Computer, I see 'ACPI Multiprocessor PC'...maybe somehow your Windows install chose the single processor one. That's my guess anyway...

Under my computer in device manager, it says "Standard PC"... any thoughts? if that needs changed, how do I fix it?

What happens if you right click 'Standard PC' and select either 'Scan for hardware changes' or 'Update driver'?

You can change it manually by loading a different driver, but that doesn't always work (in particular I've heard that at least one direction will cause Windows to no longer load, I can't remember if that's Standard->ACPI or what)...the safest way to do it is do a repair reinstall of Windows, press F5 at the beginning (when it asks you to press F6 if you have storage drivers), and then choose a multiprocessor HAL.
