Windows doesnt boot, 2nd computer in one day, not even safe mode.

This is starting to really tick me off.

Windows boots up until it is supposed to come up to the logon screen, then it restarts. Same result within Safe Mode as well. All Windows XP Professional on 1 desktop and 1 laptop.

WTF is going on? I really dont want to have to format and start from scratch. Figure it is a virus, but I can find one with these characteristics.

not really a hardware issue..appears to be a software/bug issue..are the 2 on a shared network..? Should move this to either OS or Software forum(s)..you do any software updates lately..?
 
Do you have any of the "risk factors" that would make you susceptible to viruses/trojans/worms, such as file sharing, warez, etc? Were both systems running at the same time? Do you have a hardware firewall between these systems and the Internet? (firewall zealots, please do not get literalistic about what constitutes a "real" firewall)
