Windows Desktop view Question

HI
This is obviously a case of the blind leading the blind... I was at a friend's house and was shocked when I saw her resolution settings-- so I upped them to 800x600 and 1024x768 to show her how the rest of the world does it. BUT when I did that the desktop clouds filled approx the upper left 3/4 of the screen, and the rest was the color on the desktop background color scheme (apprerance tab)- it's green currently.

I looked at the way the desktop is set - she can choose either Center or Tile (background tab), and neither made the clouds fill the entire screen. My computer never had this problem -mine is set to stretch (win98).

Does anyone know what setting to change or how to get the stretch setting in there?? She's running win95 (and no she won't upgrade and I won't be responsible for screwing it up).

Thanks

You need to install Plus! (remember this neat win95 expansion?). That would enable you to have the stretched wallpaper.

If you don't want to install Plus, you can get the Plus settings tab that comes as part of the Microsoft Font Smoothing package for Win95. It still has the check box for stretching the wallpaper.

You can do all that. But if you really want to do it the easy way. Just copy the desktop picture, get a graphics editor program (i.e. Photoshop) and just resize it to her new resolution.

You'll have to buy Plus

There are tons of graphics programs that are freeware available for download. Just go to CNET or TUCOWS and look around.

There is NO NEED to buy Plus if you download the program in the link that I gave you above, and it will do exactly what you have asked for.

Because it's an older program designed for Win95 without Plus, and its main use is actually for font smoothing.

The program has basically been retired since it is all now included by default as part of Win95B and above.

It IS a Microsoft Program....have a look around in the Type Face/Fonts area of Microsoft....it's very difficult to find though.

OK Andy,
Didn't mean to be overly-paranoid, but it's not my computer and has all her school things on it- too precious to risk losing - I'll forward all this info over to her.
Thanks everyone for the help!
