I've got this error on bootup that seems like it should be a simple fix, but I've never seen it before and I have no idea what could be causing it. Windows loads normally, I get to the blue welcome screen with a message saying:

"Windows cannot load users profile, but has logged you on the default profile. Detail: a required privilege is not held by the client."

Then BSOD:

"The Windows login system has terminated unexpectedly."

I can run windows in safe mode and have scanned for viruses and spyware, I'm just not sure where to start.

Well the first step is to try a system restore. If that fails make a new account when in safe mode and then try to log into it in regular mode. If you can then you got a corrupt user profile. Use the new account to back up any data you want then delete the old account.
