Windows are called Drivers....

hey guys I am wondering... windows software that controls the hardware is called drivers.... what is the name for them in apple????

I need the driver updates for a GeForce 2 MX for a G4 running MAC OS X... the problem I have is that the lcd is connected throught the apple connector and a projector in the vga... dual display.. cloned one....

the problem is that the VGA .. projector.. shows the mouse like some strange squares and have some strange color flashing

any idea of this problem?

I was looking for the driver on the web... but the only one i found was one that is so old... 2002 and is for max os 9 🙁

bbl i need to move around the offices in my job lol...

They are usually handled through apple's software update, or provided by the vendor. I've only had one thing that I needed to mess with drivers, and that was a tv tuner, just had to install software. But that is a good question on how to reinstall current video drivers... I leave that up to someone else that might know?

They're plainly referred to as drivers... but technically, they're Kernel Extensions. The file extension is ".kext" and is handled as a package, kinda like .sys files in Windows.

Mac OS X comes with (or provides via the Updater) the latest drivers for it, I'm afraid you're going to be SOL.

Is it just that one input, are there other inputs you can try and see if they exhibit the same symptom?

kexts is the winner. Think of them as super drivers, all the files stay in one kext container, much like most executable type files on OS X. If hardware is similar enough, sometimes all that needs to be done is adding the hardware ID to the proper plist inside.
