Windows 98SE with two types of internet connections

I use either 56k dial-up or WiFi depending on where I am with my notebook running Windows 98SE. The modem is a Lucent Winmodem and the WiFi card is a D-Link DWL-650+.

I have two entries in the Network applet (in Control Panel):

1. TCP/IP->Dial-Up Adapter
2. TCP/IP->D-Link AirPlus DWL-650+ Wireless CardBus Adapter


Dial-up logs in fine, but no data will go through (IE6 displays "The page cannot be displayed").I have to remove the second entry (TCP/IP->D-Link AirPlus DWL-650+ Wireless CardBus Adapter) in order for the connection to work.

When I want to use WiFi, I have to restore the second entry by reinstalling the protocol.


Is there a way around this hassle?

With both protocols installed, single right click on IE6 from the desktop. Click on " Properties ", then click on the heading of "Connection". Set the Dial Up connection to use your default connection and try dial up or you can set it to not use Dial Up or only to use Dial Up when a Network is not Present and then try the WiFi one. Hope this helps
