This laptop I'm trying to get to work has windows 98 First edition on it. I am trying to install a PCMCIA linksys wireless adapter on it. I installed the software, I installed the card, the card is recognized, the card even picks up the wireless network, it even seems to take the password but it will not get an IP from the router. I know the router is working, have a newer windows XP computer that gets onto the wireless network just fine. Is 98 first edition just too old to work with linksys? I mean I know the linksys software is supposed to work with 98 and for the most part does install. Do you think it just would not work or is windows 98 just corrupted and would have to be reinstalled to get it to work?
