Windows 98 reboots at splash screen

I have this computer that I tried installing a 3com NIC in and gave me a system file error. I did an SFC and restored some of the system files. Now at the Windows 98 splash screen, it starts working the hard drive and then just reboots. I have tried restoring the registry but no luck. Does anyone have a cure for this? Please help...

OH my goodness!! I just tried reinstalling windows from the command prompt, I went to my cdrom drive, then typed "setup", and now it's telling me there's no DOS partition!!! Please help me, this is my client's computer, and if I don't fix it I'm going to get fired!!! Please!!!! :disgust:

Loaded windows with a step by step confirmation and said no to everything except hymem.sys. Now it says VFAT device initialization failed.
