Windows 98 machine accesses floppy when click 'START'

I have a Windows 98 machine that tries to access the floppy when I hit the START button the first time after booting up.

'Check for new floppies....' is not checked.

Can anyone help me turn that off?

Thanx,
Ron

If Slikkster's post doesn't help and you don't use floppies much you could always disable the floppy drive in the BIOS or simply pull the power cable to the drive... I did this for years before I simply removed the floppy drive all together since I never used it.
