I have a windows 98 system that I just added a network card to.
The network that I connected it to uses workgroups instead of domains.
I turned the NT domain option off (in network/ Client for MS networks).
When the system reboots, it continues to ask for a domain name and when you go back into the setup, the "logon to domain" is turned back on.
This system used to have a 1 way cable modem (download) and a modem (upload) along with the associated networking setups. I have also used it in the past to connect to some dial in services for companies that I worked for. These all used domains for logon. I uninstalled the cable modem, modem, all related software and all networking before I installed the new card and then re-installed networking.
I suspect that there's something in the registry that keeps resetting the logon to domain switch.
Does anyone know how I might be able to correct this?
My next option is to reformat the HD and reinstall windows from scratch, but I really didin't want to do that since I have a number of other layered products as well as updated drivers for other hardware.
Thanks for any help
