Windows 98 Ilegal operation PLEASE HELP!!!!

I just formatted my hard drive and installed windows 98 first edition on it. Now whenever I try to open my computer and the such it says explorer has performed an illegal operation. Please tell me what to do... Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks
 
you can try just hitting it with a hammer,,,, although you might feel better, it won't solve the problem... try starting in safe mode see if it still does it. try reformatting again with a total clean hard drive......

also, the complete error message would be a big help.
