winamp - always open
trillian
norton
seti

max mem
cool mom
ultramon
object dock

and if i start dooing anything that doubles

The new software retains standard XP features such as Internet connectivity, Windows Messenger, Windows Media Player 9 and digital photography support.

Of course, I'll bet you can run every single one of those at the same time, after all Microsoft don't have a problem shoving their proprietary shite in your face.

and pirated full versions of xp are still 1 dollar

last time i checked you could just get them for free

well connection's kind of expensive in asian except in more developed places but then piracy isn't so rampant there eh

I bet there will be a crack/patch for it the day it's released to make it just like xp.

What a piece of junk, I cant imagine someone buying a new computer and being forced to use 800x600

wow, I wonder if it's idiots in marketting at MS that thought this would work well? Or idiots in software engineering who thought this was a good idea.

Regardless, I think even less of the "talent" at microsoft.

well, you usually have to download them (which costs something), and then burn them on a cd.

But it doesn't matter what microsoft does with anti-piracy - there will always be free software to go to. If MS suddenly makes their new OS crack-proof (and NO ONE breaks it), everyone will not jump up and buy a legal copy. Making a crack-proof OS will be the best thing MS could do for the open source community (besides uploading their entire code tree for every product ever to sourceforge), because it will force people to get off their tails and learn linux.

my thoughts exactly... they think a) people will pay for that b) people will pick that over linux ... 😕

so if people can get a pirated version or linux for less money... and they do more than XP Lite... why does microsoft think this will work?

lol this isn't going to work out too good...in asia there are illegal software stores where you can buy virtually anything...or rather, buy a copy of virtually anything. Not to mention that it's dirt cheap (from 0.50 to 1.50ish USD in Beijing)...if you can afford to own a comp in asia, you can easily hook yourself up with tons of software.
