Just gauging ATOT's users and seeing who is using windows 8, is going to, doesn't want to, or doesn't care.

For anyone interested, here is the download link.

I still have XP on my Windows machines at home, but I'm planning on installing W8 when it comes out.

I'm quite pleased with Windows 7. It was a nice upgrade from Xp. After retail Windows 8 is out I'll decide if I'm gonna bother with it or not.

Another one already? Am I getting old or is the release cycle speeding up? It seems like I used XP forever.

Seems to be generating positive buzz so far, so I'm optimistic. Casting aside the metro/touch stuff, however, if the core OS doesn't add much over Win7, then I doubt I'll upgrade.

You're missing the obvious "I'll get it when it comes on my new computer" option. Most people never install an OS on their computer... they just use what's already there.

Hell, many of them never even bother uninstalling the bloatware.

While that may be true of society as a whole, i don't really think that is the case with AT users in general. MOST of the people here are more technically oriented and will install multiple OS's if not just a single OS.

I'm actually pretty psyched about it. It runs on 1GB of RAM, can run on ARM processors, and Balmer hired coders that were under 60 years old to build it.

lol quite true

Pretty happy with Win 7. I'll wait till it comes out to see if there is anything worth it. Most likely we'll get it at work so I can try it out. If it's really good i'll get an upgrade at home.

I have it installed on my laptop. I like it so far. I'm in no rush to upgrade off of Windows 7, however I like what Windows 8 can do with a tablet and the potential. It's still a long ways off though.

I skip every-other version of windows.

Gonna probably skip 8 and probably go with 9.

Past history of upgrades: windows 3.11 - Windows 95 - NT4 - windows 2000 - xp - windows 7

Downloaded it last night but it didn't want to install on VMware fusion with win7 settings. Going to try it with boot camp and see if that works.

When is "good" ... good enough?

I can understand establishing an income stream but damn ... I'm just getting used to Win 7! Makes me want to "downgrade" to XP ...

Seems like the mods are letting more and more bullshit threads like this slide. Too busy I guess...

Wrong section.
