Wow, what are you doing. This news was not at guru3d! Also, it looks like they were using drivers from several months ago, although I could be wrong.

More useless spew from Tweakboy... i don't see the issue with the beta Windows 8 and the matured Windows 7.

3 games where it's slower (10~15%), one game where it's faster (8%) and using a driver set from July. (Out of 15 games)

The rest it's within margin of error.
Pretty sure that's not problematic...

I understand personal attacks are banned, but with posts like this consistently, can something not be done? The quality of the forum is seriously harmed by some posters.

There's a huge difference between not agreeing with someone (and thus debating) and troll posts. This forum would be utterly useless if if was just a giant circlejerk where everyone agreed. However, troll posts are the primary reason I'm only an occasional lurker.

Yeah, I mean, some people lack the perspective and jump to conclusions. An older OS with mature drivers vs a new OS with new drivers? Of course things take a while to catch up. Nothing runs at optimal level right out of the gates..... You cant judge so soon. Also, from what I saw, the benchmarks seem pretty similar, so wtf is the issue? Seems pretty close to me.

On an unrelated note, win8 is terrible and I see no reason to switch from win7. Some people have OCD when it comes to software and their computers. Why would anyone spend more money for the same type of crap, which seems more complicated to use. I dont know where some people draw their logic from. I wont be buying win8. Something new isnt better just because the company that produces it tells you it is.

Starcraft 2 and L4D2:
They use "5min gameplay". No wonder there is variation in those results. No one can reproduce 5min of gameplay exactly the same way.

in the tests over at toms, one game (sleeping dogs) didn't work correctly. That's not too good a sign. How many other games will not work correctly that we don't know about?

I dont read this forum as much as the CPU forum, but I can tell you the CPU forum is becoming almost useless for unbiased advice. It is polarized into Intel and AMD camps, and neither seems to give objective opinions.

Thing about the CPU side is that Intel pretty much destroys AMD in performance and that's all that many people really care about. Here AMD and Nvidia are on par in most ways.

What's with people trolling the OP? the information linked is relevant (in an "beta-OS, outdated-drivers kind of way") and although I would question the quality of the his editorializing, this sort of thread in no real way diminishes the quality of the forums.

Now, if someone really cares about the quality of these forums, they should get about the business of creating/modding/discussing some hardware/software or at least reviewing/benchmarking some of it and then explicitly posting about it. Not bitch about another tweakboy link-thread which can, on occasion, let a bit of outside light into these sometimes murky AT forums.

The reason they are annoyed is the OP is a (obsessive) compulsive thread maker. When he made this thread the next thread (BEFORE) his was the exact same topic.

If you look at his threads normally someone has posted the exact same thing, and he may even create new threads with the same topic.

Check out the OS thread:

He posts a thread to dis win8.
http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2279137

Ok, whatever. Oh wait, this is his FOURTH new thread to show his dislike. Plus there are other windows 8 threads going on about the same subject right next to his newest one.

Edit: I hadn't noticed until people have been whining about it. I still don't know how much I care either.

ah, yeah, fair enough. I had not seen those -- and I really do check up on this forum often enough. I guess that I have a higher "ignore tweakboy treads" setting than many. That and the fact that I quite organically opted to ignore win8 a while back: Win7 is working out just fine for me and seeing as how MS didn't (couldn't?) impose another vista style DX10 break between their new OS and the last, I don't at all feel like my current setup is lacking in any way. So I can quite happily follow the rule that past experience has taught me: Wait for SP1 before paying any attention to the latest MS OS.

I agree there are certain regulars over there that turn every thread into bulldozer vs sb/ivy and it does get tiring.

No idea what you're talking about! :whiste:

Seriously, what is it with everyone deciding that it's alright to make personal attacks on Tweakboy? Why is this just fine?
