I know the WEI can be inaccurate but this is just for fun. I always thought its interesting to see how Microsoft rates hardware - old and new. I am really curious because all of my numbers increased with the same hardware, even my CPU went from a 7.8 to an 8.2 but my SSD went from a 7.9 to an 8.0.

Windows 7

7.8 - CPU
7.9 - Memory
7.9 - Graphics
7.9 - Gaming
7.9 - Hard disk

Mine and here's why it's stupid and worthless.

8.1 - CPU (having a fast quad gives you 8.1 and HT gives an extra .1? lol)
8.1 - memory (my memory is overclocked to 2133 and I guess an extra 8GB suddenly gives a .1 bonus)
8.1 - graphics (apparently 8.1 isn't the best score you can get and a SLI 670 system is not considered top of the line? let me guess if you had a 4GB card it'd be 8.2?)
8.1 - gaming graphics (same as above...)
8.0 - hard drive (I bet if you had 1TB free space across your SSDs you'd get an 8.2)

Here's mine:

Which is interesting, I seem to score higher in Win7 yet Win8 seems noticeably quicker in all respects.

Handles normal multi-tasking fine, though. I have Firefox open with 14 tabs, Word, Songbird (listening to music), and uTorrent downloading some torrents and CPU usage is at 10-15% with no slowdowns.

How did you guys get to this page ?

A new way OR

Did you go to DESKTOP. Also I heard the desktop start menu is faked up and not like vista or 7....... so I mean if your going Windows 8 it better be for their Windows 8 Phone interface....ugly and for blind and retards.

Who cares what windows says with these scores, they are always wrong anyway.

Now they raised the bar it goes to 8.9 lol gl

That's enough, TB

my laptop is vastly superior to my desktop in all aspects bar the gpu (nvidia vs ati 6970) but classes lower overall due to the low score.

that's why it's pointless, these overall scores mean nothing

Processor i7 860 7.5
Memory 8GB 1600 7.5
Both Graphics GTX660ti O/C 7.9
Disk Intel X25-M 120GB 7.7

These are the same as produced by Win 7.

I am glad you posted this thread. I thought something was wrong with my graphics scores under Win 8. I understood the 7.9 with Win 7 because this the maximum score. The two GTX670's in this post are rated at 8.1 which makes my 7.9 seem reasonable.

I was expecting a higher score for the GTX660ti because my previous card, a superclocked EVGA GTX460, scored 7.7. WEI obviously measures performance a lot differently than AnandTech and Tom's Hardware.

For me everything went up except for the graphics! Running stock speeds with no OC (although tempted to try now)
With Win8 the system feel so much smoother and maybe because of that feels perceptively much much faster

Interesting my 128gb Vertex 4 scores an 8.0.

7.6 overall (due to my video card)...here's the breakdown:

Processor: 7.9 (2500K @ 4.5GHz)
Ram: 7.9 (16GB Kingston @ stock)
Graphics (both): 7.6 (GTX 460, stock...haven't overclocked it again yet)
Crucial M4 128: 8.1

not sure why it's only detecting my processor as 3.5ghz (its overclocked to 4.5ghz with corsair H100 cooler), but oh well.. and that's (2) GTX680's in SLI, hence the reason its claiming 4GB of VRAM...

some 8.3's on there, but final score is 8.1 (though it only counts a single GPU, so it's likely 9.9 for GPU factoring in both [this is confirmed on the advanced print/details screen])

the reason why it increased is windows 7 used a scale from 1 - 7.9
windows 8 uses a scale from 1 - 9.9
hence the small increase in your score and leaving room for improvement with later improvements in cpu's and gpu's etc
