In the search bar type; winver. Click the app and it opens the "About Windows" dialog.

Sometimes I am kind of stupid and don't give enough info because I think people can read my mind. What I actually mean is before installation. On the box or the cd itself.

Upgrade or full, they are both FULL not like the old Win 98 days where you have to insert your Win 95 Disc to upgrade.

The only diff. is that it will ask you for your Windows 8 key before it installs the Pro

Why not just download the Windows 8 Pro dvd from Microsoft?

Because I was given two of them as a gift. So I have the disc for them.
So, when I install it, I have to give the key first? I am not even sure I am going to use W 8 or not. I may just sell them. Not sure yet though.

Windows 8 Licensing

With the release of Windows 8, Microsoft is offering a simple upgrade license for retail—a departure from the Windows 7 Retail License. The System Builder License is still the license used to preinstall Windows 8 on new PCs that you sell. This license also has a new usage right, the Personal Use License.
