windows 8 and usb 3.0

I just saw a news article stating: 'Great news for consumers, win 8 will support USB 3.0'

I was just wondering why this would be considered interesting. Isn't it as obvious as win 8 will support mouse and keyboard input?

Until it's in writing, nothing is set in stone. This isn't anything to get particularly excited about, but it's nice to have official confirmation from MS.

a random question
what other benefits except a better speed you can have from USB 3 technology
That's pretty much it. The only other significant change is that USB 3 requires ports to support 900mA (4.5W) for connected devices, whereas USB 2 only required 500mA (2.5W).

I'm I the only one who thinks USB 3 support isn't much of an announcement? It'd be stupid of them not to.

As thumb drives keep getting larger and larger with faster speeds, do you guys think we will see motherboards with internal USB ports so thumb drives can be used as cheap SSD's....Run your OS off of an internal 8 gig thumb drive and keep everything else on seperate drives runing raid.

Servers already do this for ESXi.
