This clearly isn't a case of a bad monitor, else it wouldn't work fine under Linux, and it works fine when using generic Windows drivers.

It's definitely strange, though, and I suspect it's just a failing or broken graphics card where some feature/s aren't enabled without the Windows-only Nvidia drivers. When those features are enabled it just freezes the PC. The best way to tell is to install it in another PC. If the problems persist with the new PC then you have your answer.

hey guy,
had same problem and after i've read all the stuff in this threat i've seen only one remaining posible problem that i saw it fixed it.
GPU problem cannot be
Display problem NO
Driver problem could be but NO (...)
BIOS-video slot.???
i had my video on the wrong pci slot so it loaded the windows till last second than turned it off (the display).
Changed the PCI express x16 slot 2 to PCI express x16 slot 1 then all fine.(verify what slot the GPU it's using and just tell him in bios and save )
Maybe u've changed this in bios without knowing what u do or maybe just moved the video card in the other pci slot without changing it in bios also....

i am sure it's this.
hope i helped because u've helped me find it fast
ty guys

Have you disabled the onboard video on the motherboard?

When I do a fresh install, here's the order I go

1 - Load Windows, let it reboot and get to the desktop
2 - Load chipset drivers (since these control all your peripherals, PCI-e, sata) - reboot
3 - Load ethernet drivers - reboot
4 - Download the latest videocard drivers (if you don't have already) and load -reboot

Are you certain the card worked before you bought (if you bought used)?
4 -
