Basically...running Windows Vista with the hard ware listed in my sig. Thinking of installing Windows 7 now (have it on my HTPC and love it) but upgrading my CPU or maybe even my CPU, RAM, and MOBO in the coming month...

Basically my question is...would upgrading my CPU or doing a complete upgrade to a new CPU and MOBO (i5 750 with P55 MOBO) require me to reinstall 7? Or can I just install new drivers whilst uninstalling to old ones?

What would be the performance issues?

I've always had issues(mainly vista) when installing new hardware espicially motherboards without doing fresh install of operating system. Couple times system wouldn't even boot to windows.

Probably your best bet would be get new hardware then upgrade to Win7.

It depends on the chipset.

If the new Mobo has similar (close) chipset as the old one, Ghosting to the current installation to the New Mobo might work.

Otherwise during boot the HD can Not be read and you get the famous BSOD.
