See what ive bolded? Yeah, thats absolute horse shit, insulting horse shit, which is a shame because the first half of your post was really good, some people are better off on XP and others on vista yep im in agreement with that. But to call out those who dislike vista and brand them as ignorant people who simply are too dumb to handle the OS is garbage. If a person is on this forum in the first place they probably have the technical know how to install vista, its not brain surgery, in fact its the easiest OS to install.

Question is, why is there FUD in the first place? Why? No not because its cool to hate on microsoft, no not because everyone else is too dumb to use vista as you seem happy to cite. Its because of whats been said by other posters on this thread, including you to an extent in that post i quoted!! Vista has its problems and some are better off on XP.

For the record i use both vista x64 and XP, and i still dont see why some people defend vista so ferociously. Just look through this thread, ultimatebob and rchiu are simply people with opinions about the OS, opinions that soonerdipshit dosent seem to respect. It amazes me the lengths this guy goes to in vistas defence and to attempt to correct people its batshit crazy.

I love you too Soviet. When are we going to finally consummate our relationship?

ding, ding, ding. The people who continue arguing have too much free time, an agenda or ?

And the people who keep taking the time to bash Vista don't have too much free time or an agenda? Soviet happens to be one of those people by the way.

HAH! Your a time waster so like i said before, im not gonna bother arguing with you.

Guys... look through this thread, check my what.. TWO SHORT POSTS! omg! Check out soonertools posts, he breaks down almost every persons post he replies to and takes every oppertunity to defend vista like its his brother or something, its creepy.

Heh, it's funny to see how defensive you Vista people are. Problem with people using Vista is not just FUD, it's real. I used Vista since it was beta, and I have one that came with my laptop. I experienced problem with HDD constant access. I experienced problem with network sharing with other XP machines, and online gaming. I experienced problem with UAC. I experienced problem with Audio. and if you google those issues, you will find plenty of people experiencing same problem.

Like I said, I really don't care who caused the problem. I am not placing blame, I am just stating fact that there are real problems going to vista, and it may or may not be MS's fault. But there is no denying that problems exist and if you stay with XP, many of those can be avoided easily. You people may love the security, improved load time, fancy UI. for me, I use my router and my own judgment for security, I don't find adding 2gb more ram to have my program load a few millisec. faster helpful, and I don't stare at my UI when I use my pc, I actually run stuff on it. Eventually more hardware and software will support Vista and not XP, at that time, that will be the reason for me to upgrade, but for now, it's just not worth it. You can feel free to disagree, that's just my humble opinion.

Yeah its like you made a joke about their mom or something, soonerproud & friends really REALLY love vista for some unfathomable reason.

Reminds of a guy who i think was called "Link13", he hated windows 98 and anybody who used/mentioned it lol, i mean absolutely despised windows 98 beyond just saying how out of date it is. These vista loving crazies are in the same train of thought, they just dont understand that people have problems with vista, they simply dont get that theres bad stuff spread about vista for a reason, not because its cool to hate on microsoft. Its waste of time arguing with them, they are blindly in love with an OS. They could be called "Vistards" :D

You must have me confused with someone else. i really don't care what OS you use. My only dog in this fight is the FUD. I'm running Vista just fine. I've installed vista on numerous older systems, with some hardware upgrading without issue. I've also looked at systems and told the owners that Vista would be more problems than it's worth to install on that system, so they should stick with XP. I'm here to counter the FUD, that's all. If you lack the technical skill to install an OS or your system is not to spec, stick with what you know, I really don't care, just don't blame your ignorance or lack of hardware on the software.

Look not liking Vista is fine, if you have a valid point. Claiming Vista is not ready because there are no drivers 2 months after release is fine. No argument, but 18 months later that is horseshit. The dig regarding technical skill was a bit low and I apologize, but the point is, if your going to upgrade, know your limits. Know enough to research your hardware online. See if drivers exist. If they don't, don't upgrade. But don't blame the OS. Don't continue to go on forums spouting that Vista sucks because your outdated hardware doesn't work. I don't care how big you think MS is, they cannot support all hardware for infinity. As far as backwards compatibility goes, you're hardpressed to beat MS.

Opinions are fine, but be prepared to back them up. Arguments about UAC are stupid. Security in Windows has been a topic for the last 6 years. The vast majority of Windows users need something like UAC. If you are competent and know the risks, turn it off and STFU. MS is finally doing something to curb malware, not an easy task. The issue I have is with idiot comments like I got from rchiu claiming that I said Vista is perfect. I now realize he has reading comprehension problems, 'cause i clearly acknowledged the brain-dead bug in MMCSS. This is the kind of crap I'm talking about. Of course no OS is perfect, but the foam-in-the-mouth lunatics don't bother to look deeper into the problems. The Vista is slower in games than XP crap is still going on, eventhough firingline and a few other sites proved the difference was negligible. The earlier problems and slowdowns had to do with drivers. Look at XP early on and how much difference there was in game speed just based on driver releases. Duh!

Go back in time and read the forums during the Win98 to XP or even Win2000 to XP. You'll get things like 'MS really missed the boat here" or "The UI sucks" or "XP is so bloated". Why can't folks just say that their system isn't ready for Vista and neither are they. Instead it's Vista Sucks or Vista is bloated or better yet, Vista uses all my RAM, even though it's sitting there idle.

That's because people like you ignore there are many happy Vista users with no issues, just because you may have had problems does not mean all others have as well etc, true you can argue it both ways ,however I'm still fighting a driver issue on my mum's XP PC but would never blame OS for driver issues ,bottomline the same old FUD keeps coming around ,I was here at AT when XP was first released and in the heated debate over 2K Via XP,samething is happening again, samething will probably happen with Windows 7,8 etc..

Btw for the record I use Vista x64,x86 and XP,I could even name a few more operating systems but its pointless.Nobody here is forcing anybody to buy any OS,that is down to the individual.

No operating system is perfect, did I feel bad recommending to a friend to install SP2 on XP which trashed her system?...yes I did, however I don't blame XP or even Microsoft, these things will happen, end of the day no OS can be 100% foolproof and that includes XP as well as Vista.

I have had a good run with operating systems, probably the worst run for me was with XP,remember the VIA 4 in 1 drivers issues that caused some nasty crashes in early days, also remember the BSOD out of memory errors in gaming on XP that mainly happened with Nvidia drivers in the early days,AMD dual core gaming problems until AMD driver/optimizer was released, I could go on but again we all know XP is not perfect just like Vista,I even remember the AT threads on the subject, again I would not blame XP even though it gave me more issues then any other OS.

Some of the XP fans amaze me how threatened they are that a new OS has arrived, get over it,there will be a new kid on the block in a few years down the road and you can argue over that one.
Arguing and posting real issues is onething but posting FUD is a crime for any OS.I'll be watching to see what FUD is posted over Windows 7,8 etc.
Btw if you want to know who wins the argument its quite simple,Microsoft wins we never do.

Tell me about it! Driver incompatibility is one particular issue I have with people blaming Microsoft. They makes the OS yet some people expect bad drivers from the likes of Creative to just work, and get in a hissy fit at Microsoft when they don't. Yes there are situations where Microsoft are to blame, but poor device drivers written by other companies are not one of them yet is the cause for most of the flack with Vista. Graphics drivers are particular notorious for having sacrificed stability for performance in recent years, and now they have to think the reverse of this with Vista.

I also remember people refusing to switch from 98 to XP because 98 was the better gaming OS, less bloated etc.

Tell me about. I'll use another example, OSX. I am not a fan of OSX, both from the OS standpoint and from the Apple lock-in via hardware, however i don't run around posting to every forum how 'APPLE IZ THE SUXOR!!!!!" OSX and Apple hardware don't fit in with my workflow and software choices. OSX is different, but certainly doesn't suck. Same with Linux, although I have built a simple debian file server for home, I wouldn't use it as my desktop, as neither KDE or Gnome do it for me. But I don't run run around proclaiming that they suck. In fact, I've been known to give the Gnome and KDE crowd props for some great accomplishments. Well I beaten this horse, I don't have much more to add.
