Windows 7 vs Windows 8 BF4 performence

Massive enough that i went with a dual boot partition with one running windows 7 and the other 8.1 preview with BF4 installed on that.When January 16th comes and 8.1 preview expires i may buy and run 8.1 solely or i may run windows 7 but it depends on performance.

What version of DirectX on Windows 7?

11.1, the same version as in Windows 8, gets installed as part of the IE10 Windows Update.

It is a prerequisite but may be installed without upgrading to IE10, so a given system may already have it (check installed updates or compare file versions).

I was using windows 8 with bf3 and loved it until I updated the drivers about 1.5 months ago and got that dreaded memory leak that maxed out my 16 gigs of system ram. I wanted the beta to be as stable as possible so I loaded windows 64 pro and have struggled through the beta. From what I read bf4 will be optimized for windows 8 and AMD, I have a 6970 2gig card. So I'm torn, but will probably try win 8.1 with latest drivers on release then judge from there.
