1) Now that the quick launch menu and the task bar have been combined, is there any way to tell, 'at a glance' which programs are open and which are closed? half the time I don't remember what I have running and I have to click through every program Icon to find out.

2) Anyone know of an active 'enthusiast' site devoted to Windows 7 discussions?
 
1: Yes. When you first boot up there will be (from left to right) the Start Jewel, your 'pinned' programs, blank space, the notification area, and finally the system tray. Once you start opening programs, a square surrounds each open program, and then there will be an appearance of stacked squares once you have started opening multiple windows.

2: Nope, not I.
