windows 7 stutter problem

Just upgraded to a new intel SSD and windows 7 pro x64. previously on xp x64

It seemed OK at first, but now that I've got all drivers and a couple software programs installed, it's stuttering horribly. Half the time when I click a button nothing happens for a second or two, then it proceeds as you would expect. I'll be typing and things will just freeze for a second or two, and if I keep typing, everything I type gets input, just not in real time. oddly the mouse never freezes, it will always move when I move the mouse, but clicking doesn't always work.

graphics driver? it's the latest from nvidia (quadro 3500)...I'm stumped.

Sounds drivers possibly. Maybe graphics but that doesn't sound like it (mouse still moves).

Try turning sound off completely, or something to that effect. (I had issues with freezing due to Google Talk's sound notifications of all things, apparently it is only an issue on x64 version of Vista and Windows 7 at times).

I think it might have something to do wtih the SSD. I tried watching an episode on hulu, and it seemed to play ok - until I started downloading something at the same time - stutter city, on audio and video. that never happened on my old 1TB HD. when hulu's connection goes bad it just switched to buffering.

Well the solid state drives don't multiplex well so I have heard from the reviews on this sight. Hulu is a resource hog. I don't know if it is a flash problem or what. I can view full HD TV programs on my laptops and they are perfect but even low res hulu stutters a little. If I am doing something major on my Quad core machine it will stutter. The internet TV plugin for Win 7 media center does not have the hulu stuttering problem. I think that flash has done a crappy job optimizing for video playback at resolutions higher than you see on U-tube. Oh and I hate flash. Flash video is a pain to do anything with and flash web sights are hard to navigate.

well the SSD is fine. It was the driver for my RME audio card, which is supposedly verified for all versions of Win7.

Too bad because RME is usually the king of flawless drivers and support. Hopefully they'll fix this with the next update.

I have experienced similar problems to the ones you mention, notably with the sound, which gets horribly distorted, and then the machine seems to freeze, but actually hasn't but quite unresponsive.

I found for me, the problem was the RAM appeared to be getting too warm. Switching my computer off for a few minutes, letting it cool down and rebooting did clear all the problems. I have also found that improving the air flow around my comp has reduced the problem now, to almost zero.

I have no idea if that will help you or not, it was just my experience.
