Windows 7 stopped sharing printer

My computer stopped sharing my printer, an HP LaserJet 4250N. I'm running W7 Professional through a Linksys WRT54GS router.
There was no problem until I tried to print today and got nothing, it showed the printer was offline. I was able to ping the computer and router from the printer, and could ping the printer from the desktop.
I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer a number of times, with both old and new drivers PCL5 & PCL6 and it will occasionally print from my desktop through my home network but wont share the printer. When I try to enable sharing I get an error 0x000006d9 code, and most of everything I can find about this error hasn't helped.
Just for the heck of it I tried re-enabling the Windows firewall but I get a "service-specific error code 5" when I go through services.msc to restart it. Through the control panel I try to restore the firewall defaults and get nothing.
The same computer has XP Pro on a second hard drive and it has no problems with the printer.
Any tips or ideas, as I've tried everything I can think of and really don,t want to reinstall the OS just to get the printer shared.

It seems to me that this is a Network ready printer.

It should be plugged to the Router configured with Static IP that is out of the DHCP range.

The correct version of the printer's software has to be installed and configure on each Networked computer that is intended to use it.

Thanks for the quick answers.

Here is an update.
The printer is plugged into the router, it was working fine until yesterday, I was able to print from my desktop and 2 laptops through the network.

I have not installed anything. I ran chkdsk /f, uninstalled the latest driver I got from HP and installed another copy of the printer under a different name with the old driver. At this point it will print from my desktop. But still will not share.

I'm still getting this message when I try to enable sharing,
"Printer settings could not be saved. Operation could not be completed (error 0x000006d9)."

When I tried to start Windows firewall I got this message,

"Windows could not start the Windows Firewall on Local Computer. For more information,
review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service
vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 5."

I am using Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, and have it disabled.

Any other suggestions as to what to try next?

If it is a Network Printer there is No Share, each computer prints directly to it.

Disabling Kaspersky might not enough, it might be that you have to uninstall and clean after it.

Disabling usually means does not filter the Internet but all the processes and the junk that intercept LAN traffic is still there and interferes with the LAN traffic.

Even uninstall sometimes leaves behind services, and running processes.

The only way to make sure that the system is clean is to run Process Explorer and make Sure that nothing relating to the 3rd party security suit is running in the background.
