As the title says, ever since I installed Windows 7 on this computer when you click on shut down windows shuts down but the computer does not turn off. All drivers are up to date. Bios is up to date. ACPI/ACPI 2.0 are both enabled. Any ideas?

Intel C2D e6420

there is a button in the start menu with what looks like a power icon with an arrow to the right of it...(memory is spotty) click on the arrow and click on shutdown see if that works. If so obviously the button that looks like a power button is set to log off or sleep. had this happen myself confounded the crap out of me...
edit-if i remember right there is a way to change this probably right clicking the start button and hitting properties or some such thing...been on xp for 5 months now

It's Windows 7, their is not a button that looks like a power icon. I believe you are thinking of Vista. In 7 there is a button that says shutdown. I know it is not sleeping because if I hold down the power button to shut it down after windows shuts down and I turn it back on I do not get the message that says "windows did not shut down properly".
