windows 7 shortcut keys no longer work after microsoft updates

I had a lot of updates from microsoft this week and for some reason my shortcut keys no longer work since these updates.
For example CTRL+ALT+P used to load my process explorer but now no longer functions. No shortcut key seems to work anymore. Are there more people who haver this strange behavior ?

you probably installed driver updates which you shouldn't. I've seen many cases like yoos or where Windows update to a newer WLAN Driver causes the Wireless not to work. I never ever install any driver from Windows updates. Might want to reinstall your keyboard software that is repsonsible for making those butons work.

What computer model is it?

It is possible a driver was installed but not the case. I looked in my update log. And there were windows defender updates and security updates but no driver update.

That is very odd then. No security updates usually break this kinda stuff.

Can you reinstall the keyboard driver/software again and try?

I restarted my computer and the problem is gone.

I do have to note that opera freezed for a moment as well an hour ago.
After opera responded again, i tried the shortcut keys for proces explorer to check on what was happening with opera and nothing happened. I thought windows 7 was more robust in comparison to windows xp. I never seen this problem before under windows xp. Oh well, will be some obscure fix sooner or later.

Opera could very well have been intercepting all key presses. Did the stuff like Windows + arrow keys still work?

Yep, windows key functions did work. Perhaps opera did intercept all key presses when it freezed. But i closed opera down several times and checked with process explorer that opera was not still running. I find that a serious bug that when opera does not have the focus and is even not running that windows key function stop operating. I find that a serious bug in windows. I would not expect such an issue for windows 7-64.

Is "ctrl + alt + p" a Windows key combo, or one you created using an application? IIRC, it isn't a function built into windows. If the windows keys still worked, something else broke (not windows, is what I'm getting at.)

It is not a windows key combination. But when you make a shortcut to a program, that shortcut provides on option to make your own shortcut key combination.
I think this is a feature of windows since windows 98.
On a shortcut, click right mouse button and then properties. There is a edit box that allows you to enter a shortcut key combination.
