Got an email on my pre order of Win7. Its shipping oct 22, and if you pre ordered, you will be charged on oct 22. So make sure you're ready for the charge to come thru (the MS email is basically saying).

It's all good. Got it now- throwing a party then. lol. Sorry- only mean to gloat a bit, less any obnoxiousness. I really wish if they're letting copies slip through the launch parties, msdn, and technet, that some real 'full support' was in place. Mainly a software availability issue, ex: I had x64 vista ultimate, so I figure I can just install the programs I had before. ATM, it seems there are few options available for antivirus and firewall software. Though I'm coming from the position of being given an ok symantec solution for free- which doesn't work on win7. Nor does the maxifier function properly. Microsoft was nice enough to toss in some coupons for free and reduced price mainstream software for my guests and myself- but I can't act on any of that until the 22nd. It's like I have win7 rtm+other, not full retail. Should have an option to reset the reliability statistics, so when the whole shabang is running on the 22nd, I get a fresh slate, rather than a track record of learning the hard way what software didn't work so well.
Is the pre-order direct from MS? Mine got shipped across the country in a day; guessing they'll do the same for pre-orders.

FYI--Norton Internet Security 2010 is certified with Windows 7.

LOL could you actually read that?

Right now if you pre-order you can get Windows 7 Home OEM for $99. I've heard rumor that price goes up after the 22nd. Anyone know for sure what the Home 64 bit OEM version will cost after the 22nd? I'm kinda confused on the pricing.

Okay, I think I understand now what the pricing is. NE and some others are offering a $10 discount if you pre-order W7 Home OEM before Oct 22nd but after that the discount no longer is available and the price goes up to the normal cost of $110. So I need to decide wether to go ahead and buy now and get a $10 discount or wait till I'm ready to do my next build and just pay the normal pricing.

Actually, my charge from MS went thru on 10/19, not quite the 22nd as the email stated. Maybe that means it will ship or has shipped early?

Call your CC provider or go to their website. They can tell you wether you been charged yet or not. My guess is that if you been charged already then the order will actually go out (shipped) on the 22nd. I think Best Buy has it set up that if you pre order you can pick it up at your local store the next day. If they have enough supply that is. And that is what will determine who gets it when. How much supply on hand on release day.

I just pre-ordered from NE as well. Supposedly if you pre-order by 10/20 the actual order will go out on 10/22. Assuming of course they have enough supply on hand come 10/22. I'm thinking they wont have the demand on release day like Win95 or XP had in the past. I think people are skittish after Vista. That and the fact many are perfectly happy with XP still. I could be wrong though.

What about pre-orders from Amazon.com and Newegg.com? Have they gone through yet?

Mine from Amazon hasn't yet. I just went in to change the card it was charging to last night.

Nothing on mine yet. Not that I'm worried since I'm not doing the actual upgrade build til next month. I just wanted to get that $10 discount. If it ships out on 10/22 then I'm happy.

I wonder if MS will nag at them for releasing early? I just looked at my order from NE and its finally showing my CC charged so I guess it will ship next day or so. Now i just have to plan the rest of my build. 😀

Hmm. My $50 pre-order has been charged from Newegg.com, but not yet from Amazon.com. I hope that the Amazon.com order goes through, I had three home premiums and three pros ordered through Amazon.com.

I got my email from the egg, but not a shipping date. Stuff usually takes at least 3 days to get where I live, so I'm not expecting my upgrade DVD until Monday at the earliest. With my luck it will come Wednesday of next week. 🙁
I flashed my BIOS last night!!! It was a first. I used a USB drive too.

Amazon just hit my CC and my order shows shipping soon....Est delivery 10-22 which I paid for release day delivery on them.
