Windows 7 rtm

I am trying Windows 7 rtm 64. I have a question in regards to the performance tab in the task manager. Under vista 32 bit when i dont open any apps after it starts my memory stays around 1.1 to 1.21 gb. Under Windows 7 64 bit rtm my memory stays around 1.01 gb. Specs are

q9450
Asus p5q-e
3 gigs of ram

I wanted to know for those using the 64bit rtm how much memory does your system use? I thought Windows used significantly less resources or am i misunderstanding or looking at it wrong?

Currently using 2 out of 6 but I have firefox and other apps also consuming memory.

Windows 7 has made major changes to both system memory and graphics memory management. I would say that 1GB is pretty low compared to Vista 64.
