Windows 7 release candidate capable of "trim" and auto-alignment of SSD Drives?

I was thinking of buying a OCZ 30 GB Vertex drive for a Windows XP computer but was told that OS doesn't align the SSD correctly so I would have to do it manually.

Does the Windows 7 RC have provisions for this yet?

Also I have heard of a feature called "trim" that is supposed to prevent the SSD from slowing down over time. Has this been included yet?

I have been so tempted to buy one of those, but have decided to wait a year until the technology matures a bit. I don't like the fact that flashing the firmware on those drives deletes everything on the drive requiring you to image the drive first and then restoring that image.

Yes, Windows 7 RC has Trim support.

OCZ drives now allow flashing firmware without losing data. I just did it the other day and it worked great!

If you have the money, it's money well spent even at $200.

My Windows 7 rig boots in ~9 seconds from the initial windows screen to a fully functional desktop. Most programs open so fast I can't tell the difference between them being opened and just focusing them from the background. I'm so happy with this performance that I am glad I splurged for the 120GB version because it means I can throw all of my games applications and commonly accessed files on the drive.

All that, and I'm not even sure the drive partition is aligned properly (or if I have the latest firmware) because I just let the Win 7 RC auto partition the drive.

Why do you think I said wait a year in my first post? In a year the prices will be right to use SSD's as a system drive and traditional storage for your documents, music and pictures. I also am hearing rumors that MLC technology is about to come down drastically in price and that OCZ is doing away with SLC technology altogether in the near future.

Nope, that is what Trim supporty is for.

It helps mitigate it to a substantial degree but doesn't completely prevent it.
