WINDOWS 7 RC USB PROBLEM

I noticed that even though windows 7 says "it's safe to remove the device", the LED of my USB device is still on.😡
And as far as I know, removing a USB device with it's LED still lit, will eventually damage your device.

Anybody know the answer?

What the safe to remover hardware does, is it does not power off the device but if there was stuff being written to it it makes sure all data has been written to the device in the case of flash drives. That's what I'm assuming that you are using. It makes sure any data that could be cached it actually stored on the drive

Not onlly does it happen with my thumb drive it also does it with my phone connected via usb.

With xp the ight goes out, no problem.

But with win 7, the lights still lit, giving me no other choice.
I don't feel comfortable doing this.

Removing the device with the led lit will not damage it. USB devices are hot added/removed. All the safely remove device screen does is ensure any cached data has been written to the device.
