Windows 7 on dell D520?

Laptop still runs good, looking at installing windows 7 32bit due to XP end of life.

CPU: Intel T2300 Centrino duo 1.6 ghz
Memory: 1 gig

I ran the windows 7 upgrade advisor. Some of the drivers do not have windows 7 versions, so I might have to try vista drivers.

If I install more memory will a 1.6 ghz duo run windows 7 enough to get on the net, check email and work on word documents?

it wont be any problem with 2gb of ram. if you feel it is too slow, you can get a t2500 off ebay for under $10 and its 2ghz dual core.

edit: make sure you get the socket M version, that's what the d520 takes

oh, and I have loaded win7 on multiple d620's with no problems so you shouldn't have any issue with the d520

I would max out the ram to whatever it supports (probably 2-4gb), for what you use it for that machine will be more than fine for email, word etc. If you could toss in a small SSD that machine would still fly
