Yes I know this is a hardware thread. read on. ( this is the 3time I have tried to post. It keeps chucking the post and telling me a security token is missing. I hate Vbulletin)
New system build
Win 7 pro 64
Gigabyte X58A-ud3R
antec power supply 750w
Intel i7 930 @ stock speeds until this problem is sorted
Gskill DDR3 1600 8-8-8-24
Corsair nova N128 SSD
WD 1TB sata3 HDD
Saphire 5870
Pioneer DVD drive
LG dvd drive

Bios version 4
System randomly locks up. Does not crash or blue screen. Stops responding. Full stop. Will not resurrect, CTL-ALT-DEL is ignored. System power off is the only fix.

Originally the SSD O/S was in intel sata2 port 0 then 1.
originally set to ACHI then ide as found posts that Pioneer drives ( on same sata controller ) don't like ACHI.
Moved the SSD to Sata3 port 7 with the WD HDD port 6 ( 6&7 Jmicron controller) and set them as ACHI and the intel sata as IDE. problem persisted buy stable for longer ( coincidence?)
Contacted Corsair and Gigabyte but they ignored me.
Any useful suggestions to check my way. I am nearly ready to chuck the ridiculously expensive SSD but it MAY not be the problem.

Put the 2 DVD drives on the JMicron, leave your SSD and HDD on the Intel controller. Also, AHCI doesn't make THAT much of a difference, so try with that disabled.
