Windows 7 Libraries function

How to I get it to just be normal like older operating systems?

Example: I right click a .divx vid file from a website and save it onto my desktop.
I go to my desktop and it's not there. I right click and the window that asks me
my save destination is the only way I can view the file. The default location is
set to Desktop and there isn't any other folders, just one destination which is the
default. I also noticed if I go to the window which asks my save destination, and
I check the properties of the video file under the security tab, it has a red X that
states "The requested security information is either unavailable or cannot be displayed". It behaves like this and says the same thing under the security tab for any file I save from this website. It didn't do this before. The only thing that I can think of that has changed was that Sun Java updated. The website uses Java (Ninjavideo) Any help will be appreciated. Is there a way I can just save it to my desktop and actually see it?
I don't want to use that annoying Windows 7 libraries feature, any way to just disable it?

Thanks.

UPDATE - I went to CNN's website to test and see if I could try different websites. I saved the banner as a .GIF file and it showed up in my desktop. I think the problems lies with video files.

I just got rid of them with a Registry hack. Libraries are not how I store things - they just get in the way and add useless layers.

I never save anything to the desktop - always to an external data drive. I've not had a problem doing that. Here's how to get rid of the Libraries icon on the desktop:

With Reg Edit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\Namespace\ and look for the name:

{031E4825-7D94-4dc3-B131-E946B44C8DD5} The value of the default item should be "Libraries." Delete the folder and it will remove the Libraries icon from the desktop. Go to the desktop and hit F5. Icon gone, but the Libraries functionality remains should you wish to use it.

Always back up your Registry first.
