Windows 7 install doesn't detect ULi RAID controller

im trying to install windows 7 and i haven't had trouble with vista or xp (using floppy driver) to have the setup pickup my ULi RAID controller card on my a8r32-mvp deluxe motherboard. but for some reason, windows 7 doesn't show any of the 3 hard drives i have plugged into it...help?

You'll need to visit the RAID card's website and see if there is a new driver for it. Windows 7 wants a WHQL driver if you are to boot off the card. I ended up using a driver for my SCSI RAID card from Server 2003 to get it to boot.

the silicon image chip controller only has 1 port on my mobo. the other 4 are controlled by ULi

i found a ULi vista driver and loaded it. after that it showed my hard drives so i picked my raid setup and it went through the initial setup and after the reboot it blue screens and reboots. dead end

so apparently nvidia bought out ULi and then canned out. however, i found a driver on their website that worked. windows 7 running like a charm

To contribute, I have uploaded the ULI220 file with the RAID controller driver in the following link:

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=N3LQ69W2

I can get my A8r32-MVP Deluxe to recognize my Raid-0 drive now and able to finish the rest of Windows 7 installation.

When Windows 7 says no drive detected, click on "Load driver" and browse the USB or CD-ROM where you copied the ULI file into. Then point to the following directory to load & install it.
---> G:\ULI_220\SATA\M5289\i386

Hope this resolves the RAID issue for any A8R32-MVP Deluxe owner and/or M1575 chipset user when installing Windows 7.

Thank you

I thought a clean, non-intrusive desktop, and heavy driver support was the fundamental benefits of W7 over the Vista offering. This doesn't make me confident that I'll upgrade any of RAID computers in my home anytime soon.

Generally it's fine. ULI was never a very big player, or very competent for that matter, so you get crazy edge cases like these.
