Greetings,

Check out: http://www.win741.com/

Seems to be legally hosted by Microsoft and allows individuals who are students to purchase Windows 7 for $29.99. I'm going to give it a shot and report back later.

Have a great day! Let me know what you think.

Looks ok but I don't know. Wouldn't trust it yet until doing a little more research first.

There's another thread floating around here about a deal through the ACM. I've got 8 keys for Windows 7 Professional I paid a grand total of 20 dollars for. You have to be a student but it's not a half bad deal if you ask me!

Edit: added link to other thread.

They started already in europe:
http://www.neowin.net/news/mai...o-get-windows-7-for-30
icrosoft has taken the wraps off an amazing offer for UK and US students today.

Students in the UK and US with a valid email address (an email address given by the college or university, e.g. name@leeds.ac.uk) will be able to purchase Windows 7 Home Premium or Windows 7 Professional (upgrade versions) for £30 and $30 respectively. The offer will run until 3 January 2010 when the prices will revert to normal.

Microsoft confirmed the offer in an email to Neowin, "students will benefit from many of Windows 7's unique functions and applications which make PC's easier, simpler and more fun to use. For those students who have the latest laptops with touch screen technology, Windows 7 comes with enhanced capabilities for an enriched touch experience, allowing a more direct and natural way to work ? it's also perfect for netbooks. Other features include remote media streaming, improved gaming experience, enhanced security and integration of Windows Media Centre for more central and convenient management of music, movies and photos."

To take part in this offer please see more information at the Windows UK Student Offer site or the Windows US Student Offer site.

Update: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Korea and Mexico will also have similar offers but exact pricing varies by market. Details will follow.

The UK site is up and running:

i have also e-mailed their customer service because the terms clearly state you can purchase win7 pro but you are only given the option to purchase home premium. I haven't gone through with the purchase yet myself. Has anyone purchased it yet?

When you get to the second page, under Home Premium there is a box that says "Need to connect to your campus domain?" Click that box and you get Pro for the same 29.99.

I can't use Windows 7 at school right now at all. Their network only allows Win XP or Windows Vista. Cheapest I have found Vista for is about $90. Would be nice if I could get it for $30.

They have stated that they will not support Windows 7 until some time after the official release. Just to give you an example, they are not expecting to support Snow Leopard until some time in 2010. People who upgraded to Snow Leopard are without wireless access at school right now.

ACM (see link by alevasseur14 above) still has Vista Business and Vista Enterprise available on site. I suspect that they will eventually put Windows 7 back up (after it officially launches). The cost to join is $19.99 per year but you will get 11 Vista keys (multiple languages but they will work on any English install) as well as the ISO files. Also have 32 bit and 64 bit versions available.

Wow, that is a good deal however I don't think I will get it in time. I need to have Windows installed by next Wednesday. Stupid exam software only runs in Windows.

Looks like the best offer is the $65 product red edition. It hurts having to pay that much knowing a better version of the operating system is out and only for $30.
