Windows 7 beta evaluation spotted on TechNet China

Microsoft to give more info later this evening

by AuDioFreaK39

As it stands this morning, Microsoft's TechNet China has just posted the first legal and legitimate copy of Windows 7 beta evaluation on its site. The test version of Microsoft's upcoming operating system isn't available for download yet, however according to our source it should be readily available on the English version of TechNet within the next few days or weeks.

Microsoft has been quiet for the past few weeks regarding its activity with the operating system. This may have unfortunately been a result of the leaked copies of its beta 7000 build that we've all seen floating around the net for the past week and a half. Rest assured, Microsoft will most likely give an explanation for the silence at its pre-CES keynote in less than twenty-four hours

All in all, we expect to see Ballmer shed much more plentiful light on the company's highly-anticipated and forthcoming operating system, not to mention a spew of peculiar humor and sarcasm as well.

Microsoft's pre-CES keynote will be hosted live from the company's site on Wednesday, January 7, 2009 at 6:30pm Pacific Time and can be viewed here.

Is this the 7000 build?

It's not up yet. Last thing Microsoft reported btw was due to the rampant "availability" of the beta on torrents, they weren't going to release the beta on TechNet or MSDN (which is why it was briefly listed in December but disappeared). Hence, it may not even show up tonight or tomorrow from official sources.

Thanks much all you torrenters!

You can go get it yourself.

I'll take their statement as, "No need to put it out. It's already there! Wahoo!".

Thanks, I prefer an official BITS download along with a verified MD5/SHA1 hash. 🙂

Still not available for US MSDN and/or TechNet customers. I'm assuming the earliest it will go up is 9:30pm EST / 6:30pm EST or shortly thereafter (coinciding with the keynote) - if at all.

Link that bad boy up when it goes live !!! I have a Win 7 build ready and waiting for an OS to install onto it !

so its finally up eh, guess I shall go DL and have a peek

I'm thinking there's folks at Microsoft who are going to be bummed with "Windows 7". Microsoft has got their mainstream desktop and server OS (Vista and Server 2008) using identical Service Packs. When Windows 7 is RTM'd, the latest desktop and the latest server OSes will require different Service Packs again.

Eh, I don't know. It's basically all the same code base in the first place, the only difference will be the version number.

Server 2008 R2 will be released when Windows 7 is released. Microsoft has already stated this.

I hadn't heard that or I'd forgotten it (more likely). Now I'm bummed. LOL.

Will the 64-bit version be available on the public beta site friday as well?
