Windows 7 and GTAIV

After hitting the huge PLAY button on the lower left corner of the SocialClub window, the DVD drive showed slight signs of activity and there was a brief moment of a black dos window that appears, the mouse cursor switched from a regular cursor to a optical disc cursor and back, and instantly disappears and nothing happends afterwords.

Everything activated just fine without any errors and nothing was given I was doing anything wrong. What gives?

My hardware:
Core 2 Duo 6600
DDR26400 6GB RAM
Asus P5B Deluxe Wifi/AP Motherboard
ATI X1950Pro VIVO 256MB card

I remember having issues installing and getting it to play. I think it was this thread that gave me answers. It was running flawlessly after a few tweaks.

Hope that helps

Were you on the list? Did you try to use the old "I know the DJ" line? 😉

this should get you there, or at least remove some possibilities.

I had no problems installing the game and even had to set it to the XP compatablility. I even ran both the GTAIV program and the Rockstar SocialClub program on both compatability modes of XP and without and as an administrator and without running it as an administrator.

Funny thing, when I did ran it as an administrator for the GTAIV program and not the SocialClub, it gave me that SecureROM allowance to run.

And any effort to no avail.

It is a good thing that this game was free (thanks to the GameTrailers raffle) but goddam if it is the damn DRM (this is my first time ever experiencing a game complete with having presenting to you to create two online accounts, and an activation - and seeing a "revoke license" shortcut in the start menu)....

Update:

The Game For Windows - Live Program after I installed it did the trick. When I ran the SocialClub route of running GTAIV, I got a new indication of a Windows Firewall approval message to allow or deny to public and private networks but the game did show as working.

GODDAMN INSTRUCTIONS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CLEAR ABOUT THIS The GAME FOR WINDOWS LIVE INSTALLER should have been part of the install of which I did not see at all.

The game is running flawlessly for me with Windows 7, this is a very impressive beta thus far.. I can't wait for official release of 7, things are really looking up so far..
