The Action Center will prompt you to install anti-virus software, and when clicked takes you to a page with three options...Kaspersky, AVG & Norton.

My experience on two machines is that AVG gets along much better with W7 than does Kaspersky, especially if Office 2007 is installed. I haven't tried Norton.

Considering how utterly useless AVG is, i'm not seeing any win in this picture

free AntiVir works fine on my Win7.

I use Antivir on every machine from 2kpro on up, Win7 included.
Works great on Linux machines too!

The only pisser is the nag screens - but you get used to them after a while...

There is a work around to remove those popups permanently. Go to the Avira folder on your C drive (or whatever drive you have Windows installed on) and change the permissions of the avnotify icon to deny for all users and the system by right clicking, selecting properties, select the security tab and then press the Continue button and have at it.
