windows 7 and 10

Hello, I was wondering since I really don't want to spend $100+ dollars on windows 10.D:. I was wondering if i install windows 7 and activate it with my activation key, and then upgrade to windows 10 right after, would that be considered a "clean" Install of windows 10?

Thanks Guys 😀

No, it wouldn't be considered a "clean" install, it would be considered an upgrade install. But once Win10 is activated on that motherboard, you can do a clean install of Win10 right after.

Microsoft stores a hardware hash of your pc on their servers so like larry said, if you upgrade from 7 to 10 and then get a copy of windows 10 on a flash drive and install fresh the windows installation will automatically activate the first time you run updates or sooner. It will recognize that it is a pc that is entitled to a license the moment it calls home.

No need to pay anything if you have Windows 7 already... what others said, only thing I can add is that you still can keep using windows 7 copy (at least on that PC) after you upgrade.
