Windows 2K Pro memory dump

Hi guys,

I got memory dump from my Athon XP 1600+ with Win2K Pro installed. The following r the msgs,

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED ....... win32k.sys
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA ......SAVRT.SYS

My 392MB DDR266 RAM r abit weird. Sometimes when I boot up the system, it showed only 256MB but
sometimes it showed 392MB.

How do you have 392MB of DDR memory. As far as I know DDR only comes in 128MB increments. I would say you have some faulty ram or your motherboard is not recognizing it properly.

Run Memtest86 (Google for it) overnight, all tests enabled. Other than that, you haven't given enough info to suggest much else.

384 MB of RAM will show up as something like 192.000 KB, I'm guessing that's where 392 comes from.
Anyway, sounds like either the RAM or the mobo isn't feeling too well.

Try running Memtest for a while and see what it says.

Does MemTest86 report show that which RAM is faulty?

Usual way is to test one stick at a time in the same slot.

I tried to swap the memory in slot2 to slot3 and it seems like no more restart after using it for a week !

So sorry for the trouble I made !
